About Merro

I’m Julie, founder of Merro.

I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. My mother is a painter and a ceramicist and always encouraged creativity above all else.

That inspiration took me to art school where I received my BAs in Design and Applied Arts. Since then I’ve worked as a designer, both freelance for brands like Aldi, Asda, Next Selfridges and Boots and for myself selling my own jewellery. I now live in Brighton where Merro was founded.

Merro is an abbreviation of the Irish word ‘Merrow’ meaning mermaid. It felt fitting seeing as that’s where I most love to be… in and by the sea.
